COVID IN MEXICO

As you can see, we only have 4 states in yellow and 27 states in green. Oaxaca is in green until this Friday.

Oaxaca numbers

We only had 59 cases of Covid in the whole state of Oaxaca. Oaxaca City only had 9 cases and now it is not the place with more cases in the state of Oaxaca.

Next week, vaccines will be available for 15-17 years old and for 12-17 years old that suffer co-morbid diseases and booster vaccines for people older than 60 years. It will be Astra Zeneca, so we are starting to combine vaccines. Most 60 years old people were vaccinated were Pfizer vaccine for the first and second dose.

City Updates

The city looks very beautiful, and we are ready to celebrate Christmas and all the celebrations we have before: virgin de Juquila, virgin de la Soledad and virgin de Guadalupe. Eight “posadas” before Christmas, Christmas Calendas and we do not know yet if we will have our “Night of the Radishes”.

The School

We are very happy to have several students right now at the school. Thank you to everyone for your recommendations and for coming back to Oaxaca. We have now 17 teachers:  Edith, Mayela, Liz, Betty, Stephanie, Eloy, Mine, Cinthya, Erick, Bertina, Jorge, Carlos, Ime, Alexis, Aris, Javier and Samara. 

Some of our teachers continue teaching online, that is one of the reasons we must hire new teachers, and we have been very lucky to find the best ones.

If you like your classes online or in person, send us a note of how your experience has been, it will help us to continue with our work and to improve.

We have students from the United States, Belgium, Switzerland, and Canada now.

As you know, if you have been to our school in person, every Friday we have our “Graduation Friday “when our students finish their course and have to leave. When we do not have any student that is leaving, we have now what we call a “Viernes Social” and enjoy something to eat, a dessert or some typical from Oaxaca at our main patio.

We really hope things get better, but if not, we are learning to live with COVID taking all kinds of precautions. We continue wearing our masks every place, using sanitizing gel, keeping the social distance, etc.
